Sportswear Retailer Donates Nearly 20,000 Masks to Local Chicagoland Ward Offices

City Sports (@citysports_chicago), a local sportswear retailer, has donated about 20,000 masks between April 16 and May 11th. City Sports is coordinating efforts with multiple Chicago aldermen on the distribution of the masks to underserved communities.

Across many parts of the United States, COVID-19 is affecting minorities at disproportionately higher rates due to lack of access to proper healthcare, insurance, and other resources.

As of May 1 per Governor J.B. Pritzker’s extension of the stay-at-home order, Illinois residents are required to wear a mask or face covering in public places and in situations where they are unable to keep a safe distance from others.

To continue supporting their communities, City Sports has donated masks and partnered with the Chicago aldermen in the wards it has store locations to help identify the most significant needs within the communities.

“We want to support and give back to the communities we’ve been a part of for many years. With the new shipment of masks we received, we want to continue making sure we help our communities during these tough times,” said Karyn Kim, a representative for City Sports.

City Sports has 27 partnership store locations across the Midwest, many of which are located in Chicago’s underserved communities. During the stay-at-home order, they continue to serve customers at ChicagoCitySports.com.
